Police Pistol 1 (PP1)

PP1 is a fixed pistol programme of 30 scoring shots on the PP1 target (C.6A, Sportordnung Part C, 15 July 2024). Time is controlled by a turning target or by a signal: after “Achtung – Feuer!” or after the target turns away and faces again after about five seconds, the string starts (C.6.10).

At 25 metres, 12 shots in 2 minutes (120 seconds), including any reload. At 15 metres, two strings of 6: the target appears six times for 2 seconds, one shot per exposure, with a reload between strings. At 10 metres, 6 shots: the target appears three times for 2 seconds, two shots per exposure.

Ready position: arms extended, pistol lowered to 45 degrees, muzzle toward the ground. Standing free, two hands allowed.

PP1-A (C.6AA): 9 mm Luger semi-automatic pistols only, no compensator, no sport or orthopaedic grips. PP1-B (C.6AB): pistols or revolvers from .354 (9 mm) to .455. PP1-OS (C.6A.7): the same course with optical sights, scored separately; equipment follows PP1-B. PP1-B is an official equipment class, not the default name for PP1. NPA-B is a different event.

Police Pistol 2 (PP2)

PP2 (C.6B) is a separate 60-shot programme on the PP1 target, plus 6 sighters on stage B. Pistols or revolvers .354 to .455, iron sights. It is not the PP1 course.

Stage A at 10 m, stage B at 50 m in 3 minutes with prone, kneeling or sitting and a barricade post, stage C at 25 m in 2 minutes.

An optical-sight variant is scored separately.

Police Pistol 2.

Police Pistol 3 / Carry Gun (PP3)

PP3 Carry Gun (C.6D) is the BDMP event for more compact service pistols: 30 shots on the PP1 target. Revolvers .32 to .455 with a 4.25-inch maximum barrel, pistols fitting 220 × 140 × 40 mm. Iron sights, no wadcutters.

My German records in this event are stored as result rows, not as an unchecked current national mark.

Police Pistol 3, Carry Gun.

Police Pistol 4 / Pocket Pistol (PP4)

PP4 Pocket Gun (C.6E) is the still more compact variant: 30 shots on the PP1 target. Revolvers with a 3-inch barrel, pistols fitting 180 × 140 × 40 mm. Iron sights, no wadcutters.

The 24 March 2018 full-house row is also the stored German record and is kept once.

Police Pistol 4, Pocket Pistol, Pocket Gun.

NPA Service Pistol

NPA Service Pistol (C.7) is a 24-shot programme on two NPA targets. It is not PP1.

Ready position: pistol horizontal, elbows against the body, upper and lower arm at 90 degrees, muzzle toward the target.

NPA-A (C.7A): 9 mm Luger semi-automatic pistols. NPA-B (C.7B): pistols or revolvers .354 to .455. NPA-OS (C.7B.7): optical sights, scored separately. NPA Carry Gun and NPA Pocket Gun use shorter distances. Do not confuse NPA-B with PP1.

Super Magnum (SM)

Super Magnum (C.6C) is a 30-shot programme on the PP1 target for pistols or revolvers from .44 Magnum to .50 with at least 1,200 joules. Iron sights, ready position as in PP1.

PPC 1500 / BDMP 1500

The 1500 programme (C.8) is 150 scoring shots in five matches, maximum 1,500 points, on the BDMP 1500 target. Revolver 1500, Pistol 1500 and 1500 Optical Sight are full matches. Distinguished Pistol, Distinguished Revolver and Open Match use Match 5 only (60 shots).

Times and positions follow C.8.2. Where 7 metres are not authorised, 10 metres may be used. Double action does not apply to semi-automatic pistols.

Optical-sight variants (Revolver OS, Pistol OS, C.9.9) are kept separate. The shortened sub-events are below.

PPC, Precision Pistol Competition, BDMP 1500, Pistol 1500, Revolver 1500, 1500 OS.

Standard Revolver / Service Revolver

Standard Revolver 4.25" (C.9.6) and Standard Revolver 2.75" (C.9.7) are shortened 1500 matches for production revolvers in .38/.357, double action only, 25 metres maximum, 48 shots.

Historical names such as SR4 and Service Revolver stay on the matching result rows.

Off Duty Revolver

In my results, Off Duty Revolver 2.75" is the historical name for the compact revolver match. The current rulebook lists the same shortened course as Standard Revolver 2.75" (C.9.7).

Older rows keep the Off Duty name. They are not renamed to PP1.

Double action only. Five-shot revolvers have their own match.

5 Shot

Standard Revolver 2.75" 5 Shot (C.9.7.6) is the separate match for five-shot revolvers with a 2.75-inch maximum barrel. The course follows C.9.7.5, with each stage reduced to five shots, 40 shots in total.

Standard Semi-Automatic Pistol (SSA)

Standard Semi-Automatic Pistol (C.9.8) is the production self-loading pistol class in the 1500 family: 48 shots, 5.5-inch maximum barrel, calibre from .35, fixed sights. The course uses the shortened 3, 7, 15 and 25 metre stages.

C.9.10 covers the 3.65-inch variant. Historical names such as Stock Semi-Automatic Pistol remain as aliases.
