Bianchi Cup Netherlands 2025: Production Optics win
2 min read
The journey to Druten
On Friday, 7 August 2025, I drove from Germany to Druten for the Bianchi Cup Netherlands. The journey was long and delayed by heavy traffic. It was after 3 a.m. before I got to sleep.
A few hours later the alarm went. At 8:00 on Saturday, 8 August 2025, the first shot of the match was fired.
Four matches, one programme
The Bianchi Cup asks for precision, control, speed and concentration at the same time. The classic programme is four matches of 48 shots each.
The Barricade Event is fired at 10, 15, 25 and 35 yards. The Practical Event is at 10, 15, 25 and 50 yards; in the CMP programme the times run from three to fifteen seconds, stepped by distance. The Moving Target Event is at 10, 15, 20 and 25 yards, with the target crossing in six seconds. Falling Plates are at 10, 15, 20 and 25 yards, with times between six and nine seconds.
Production Optics and Standard Metallic
I started in Production Optics and won with 1,862 points and 131 X. That was the sporting core of the weekend.
For the second-gun match I entered Standard Metallic with my Production pistol. I treated it as a warm-up for Production Optics and did not put the score at the centre. I still finished second overall in Standard Metallic.
Indoor and outdoor in Druten
The range in Druten mixes indoor and outdoor bays. Conditions change, and that is what makes the match instructive. Starts like this teach more than an even training day.
Organisers, range and atmosphere
The organisers and range officers ran a good event. The atmosphere was open and friendly for shooters and spectators. On site there were burgers and cold drinks. At the start each competitor received a welcome package through a lottery.
The drive home and the next morning
The Bianchi Cup Netherlands 2025 ran over two days. After the last shot the long drive home began. The next morning I was back as an instructor of the PAA Shooting Academy.
I was exhausted and satisfied. The short, intense trip remains a clear memory. I want to return to Druten and start there again.
